Things To Think About With Web Design
Article Directory :: Internet Marketing/Online Business Articles
With the conception of the internet came a host of new potential opportunities for everyone, it brought IT into the limelight, from computer programming to network support and finally to web design. In the past, anything seen to involve computers has been seen as geeky, not any more!! More and more possibilities are becoming readily available due to the size and importance of the internet.
It is big business; it generates more money than ever before. To the point that high street sales are diminishing, whilst internet sales are flourishing. Well think about it, you can do everything online these days, you can check your bank account, you can buy your groceries online and have them delivered to your door, people work from home online, you can purchase almost anything online that you can in the street and you never have to even stand, let alone leave the house.
Some will argue it is a bad thing, and to a point they are probably right. The world is becoming a virtual window of information; people are less and less leaving the home as they have no need to. It is no wonder the world has record numbers of obesity. That being said, the benefits truly outweigh the pitfalls.
So Why Choose Web Design?
If you are seriously thinking about breaking into the world of web design, whether it is a fresh beginning from school or college or even a career change in the middle of life, web designing can be a very rewarding career choice. Very competitive salaries that can climb and climb depending on how good you really are. It also gives you artistic freedom in a lot of the work that you do; it's not your usual same routine for a job.
It is also a career path that does look to have a serious amount of longevity, the net is growing by the day and you cannot imagine that the world will ever be without it. So while there is the internet, you will always need a web designer. Let's not be foolish though, to be a good web designer takes a lot of intelligence and hard work, dedication and a certain level of creativity. If you have all of these credentials then choosing web design could be the best decision you ever took.
How To Go About It
You could check with your local college, take an online course or in some instances be paid on an apprenticeship basis. You can find out more by searching on your favored internet search engine, to find which one would suit you the best. Just ensure that you are willing to put in the hard work that is desired and have the time to complete whichever course you choose.
Prices, as with anything will vary from place to place and course to course, so a good look around is advised. Then before you know it you will be working in the world of web design.

'American Idol' Top 24: How To Tell Hallie Day From Heejun Han
We break down this year's remaining 'Idol' hopefuls, from Aaron Marcellus to Skylar Laine, and everyone in between.
By James Montgomery
Members of the "American Idol" top 24

On Thursday, after approximately 4,256 hours of auditions, callbacks, comparisons, falsettos and fainting spells (not to mention the occasional bit of nudity and some stuff on a battleship,) "American Idol" finally whittled the masses of dreamers down to the Top 24.
It was a ride, to say the very least, but at long last, we know the names and faces of the folks who will battle it out to become the heir to Scotty McCreery's crown. Of course, keeping track of all the hopefuls can get rather difficult (especially since so many of them are country singers), which is why we've once again taken it upon ourselves to break down each of them in handy-dandy bios. Because how else are you supposed to tell your Hallie Days from your Heejun Hans?
So here's our guide to the Top 24 — we're not even going to get into the whole "Surprise Save" that'll be unveiled next week ... haven't we been through enough already? — alphabetized and cross-referenced for your perusing pleasure.
Aaron Marcellus: Throwback soul singer too frequently overshadowed by groupmates (and fellow Top 24ers) Creighton Fraker and Jen Hirsch. Seems like he could have a moment at some point during the live shows. Sort of looks like Godfrey.
Adam Brock: Secretomotoristic father/crooner/possessor of magical handkerchief who barely made it to the Top 24. Kind of a combination of Casey Abrams and Ruben Studdard, only with better facial hair.
Baylie Brown: Pop-country pinup who returns to the competition after making a run as a teen. Could charitably be described as "Carrie Underwood Lite." Probably gets lots of dirty looks from Skylar Laine.
Brielle Von Hugel: Empirically named progeny of cloying stage mom, who, not surprisingly, carries herself as a diva-in-training. Wearer of impressively knitted half-blouses. Capable of putting some stank on it.
Chase Likens: Unassuming country dude who sort of recalls Neon Bible-era Win Butler. Vest enthusiast. Uh, yeah.
Chelsea Sorrell: Small-town gal whose childhood dreams included being both "a mom and a country singer." As far as we can tell, she's halfway there. Had some rough patches, still made the Top 24. Dropper of many "Y'alls."
Colton Dixon: Sorta-emo guy who looks like a Tim Burton illustration. Outlasted his sister during Hollywood Week, none too happy about that fact. Gives off a slightly Christian vibe, which, coupled with the fact that he's from Tennessee, probably means he knows Hayley Williams.
Creighton Fraker: Lithe-voiced/creatively haired cabaret singer who flaunted his lack of employment for maximum impact. Seen wearing fuzzy rabbit ears during "Idol" vignettes. Slightly odd, yet may be one of the best male singers in the competition.
Deandre Brackensick: Lion-maned teen with equally epic moniker, he's been down this path before. Finally made the Top 24, yet needs to find his zone to advance in the competition.
Eben Franckewitz: Polite 15-year-old Bieber-ite who bested David Leathers Jr. to nab the final guy's spot (outrage!) Overall lack of confidence nearly as glaring as his bad posture. Proud recipient of the coveted "You're cute!" endorsement from Jennifer Lopez.
Elise Testone: Likeable lifer who absolutely kills it every time she takes the stage. Raspy/sultry notes for days. Can put some stank on it. Still, will probably will get voted off early. If you squint, she kind of resembles Ke$ha.
Erika Van Pelt: Effervescent wedding singer with brassy voice. Kind of a surprise addition to the Top 24. Has a massive back tattoo, ala Crystal Bowersox, yet will probably not make it as far as the 'Sox.
Haley Johnsen: Vaguely indie smokeshow from the Pacific Northwest. Voice like a steam kettle, yet also capable of some stank when the situation demands it. Like Megan Joy, minus the tattoo sleeve.
Hallie Day: Former girl-group member/cautionary tale who appropriately owned Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive." Dark horse. Lips single-handedly keeping Blistex in business. Choice of husband a source of inspiration for slightly chunky dudes everywhere.
Heejun Han: Buttery-voiced, slightly catty people's champ. Seems to understand the inherent ridiculousness of this entire contest. Frequent hugger. Deflects any perceived criticisms (i.e. "He's kind of a jerk") by working with the mentally challenged. Cunning.
Hollie Cavanagh: Last girl in. Scouser/Southern accent makes her sound like Paul McCartney running a cattle auction. Good voice. Appears to be very nice, also appears to be channeling every single girl who sat behind you in Social Studies, neither of which bode well for her chances of winning.
Jen Hirsch: Big (big!)-voiced belter who may very well be the one to beat. Miles of stank. Likeable. Kind of recalls a supercharged Haley Reinhart, yet could definitely out-Reinhart Reinhart herself. We hope she wins.
Jeremy Rosado: Only member of the highly touted Leathers/Sprague/Carruba contingent to make the Top 24 (until Leathers gets in as the "Surprise Save" next week). R&B-esque upper register, yet may not possess the, uh, fortitude to impress voters.
Jessica Sanchez: Supremely driven 16-year-old who can sing the phonebook. Age belies her supreme diva-tude. Could see her winning the whole thing, could also see her flaming out when producers fail to secure correct shade of white linens for her dressing room. Maximum stank.
Joshua Ledet: Twitchy balladeer/preternaturally old soul with talent to spare, yet appears to lack the self confidence required to make a deep run. Makes goofy faces whilst singing, which only makes him more likeable.
Phillip Phillips: Oddball dreamboat/pawnshop employee whose bizarre name seems to suggest he had really mean parents. Probably wants to read you his poetry. Definitely owns hemp garments. Could conceivably win this whole thing if he stops with the whole "Dave Matthews foot shuffle" thing.
Reed Grimm: All-grown-up stage kid who is eternally on. Name recalls Marvel Comics supervillan. Occasionally breaks into ill-advised bouts of scatting. Made sure everyone knew he could play the drums. Sort of looks like Ethan from "Lost." Is annoying.
Shannon Magrane: Talented offspring of former MLB pitcher with career .460 winning percentage. Unwilling target of Steven Tyler's creepy (and borderline illegal) advances. Has undoubtedly met Harold Reynolds, which makes us jealous.
Skylar Laine: Sparkplug Southern gal who keeps getting compared to Bonnie Raitt. Can effectively handle an ATV, yet was also hospitalized during Hollywood Week. Will probably be outshined by both Brown and Sorrell, despite being more talented than either of them. Reminder that sometimes life isn't fair.
Got a favorite to win it all? Let us know in the comments below.

How to Choose A Trustee - Estate Planning Attorney in Reno, NV
When you create a trust, one of the most important decisions you must make is who to appoint to succeed you as your?trustee. Although each trust is unique, there are some basic considerations that you may wish to take into account before making a decision regarding the appointment of a trustee.
- The Purpose and Complexity of The Trust: Trusts come in numerous forms and are created for a wide variety of reasons. A trust may be rather simple, such as a trust that is created solely for the purpose of providing funds to care for a pet after the death of the maker of the trust. On the other hand, a trust may be extremely complex, such as a trust created to manage and distribute a large estate after the death of the maker. A trust with a simple purpose does not require as much from the trustee as a complex trust does.
- Location of Trust Assets: The trustee is responsible for all trust assets for the lifetime of the trust. Where the trust assets are located is an important consideration. It is sometimes helpful if the trustee is located near the assets in order to more effectively manage the assets. With today?s?electronic communications, however, this is not as great a factor.
- Relationship of the Trustee to the Beneficiaries: Does the potential trustee have any financial interest in the trust itself or a direct relationship to the financial interest of a beneficiary? Does the potential trustee have an obvious or potential conflict of interest with any of the beneficiaries? If so, you may wish to reconsider selecting this potential trustee.
- Financial Ability and Experience: The trustee has numerous duties to both the assets of the trust itself and the beneficiaries. Depending on the size of the trust, managing the trust assets may require a high level of financial ability and experience. Be certain the person you appoint has the experience and the ability to handle the position or to manage the experts who will take care of the technical matters.

?Rampage? Jackson growing weary of mixed martial arts
This weekend is a dangerous spot for Quinton Jackson. "Rampage" sounds less than motivated to face Ryan Bader and he admits he's sick of facing light heavyweights with a wrestling base.
"Sometimes it is hard to get motivated. Like when I fought Matt Hamill, I really wasn't motivated for that fight. At the end of the day, it's my job to fight," Jackson said. "I am kind of tired of fighting a bunch of wrestlers. I'd like to fight more striking-based fighters."
Jackson isn't getting his wish at UFC 144. Ryan Bader is a former All-American wrestler at Arizona State. His striking has gotten better, but he's already admitted there's little chance he's going to simply stand and bang with a guy like Jackson.
"I'm getting kind of bored with guys who want to take me down all the time. [...] I just want to excite people. I know fans are saying I'm one dimensional because i just try to knock people out. I just like knocking people out," said Jackson.
Who doesn't, right? But to do that a fighter has to be well-rounded enough to mix up his game, add to it and then improvise in the cage. Jackson doesn't seem to be adding much to his game at all. He's not a huge fan of training and he certainly isn't in the gym year-round working on his game. It sounds like he's already got his eye on his next challenge.
"The opponents I'm getting, a lot of people just want to take me down. I want to try and see how I'll do in both [boxing and MMA]. I haven't done boxing yet, so before I lay down the fighting, I want to try boxing," said Jackson.
At minus-260, Jackson is a big favorite in the fight.

Happy Birthday to the KODAK Trademark
2/22/2012KODAK may be the greatest trademark ever created.? It?s short, and it is easy to pronounce, with few variations.? It is a word that can be pronounced fairly accurately in other languages by non-English speakers. The United States Patent and Trademark Office issued KODAK its first trademark registration 100 years ago this week.?
Kodak was the original social media company. It provides a great lesson in the power of trademarks and branding.? While the Facebook IPO dominates the headlines (Blog of February 15, 2012), less focus has been given to the image of the KODAK brand, now fading and curling at the edges.?
A century before Facebook made it commonplace for people to share the moments of their lives, Kodak was finding ways to share images from our lives. They called themselves ?America?s storyteller.?? Kodak invented the concept of posting signs at scenic and tourist locations, designating ideal picture-taking spots. ?Everyday language used the term ?Kodak moment? to describe, at first sincerely and later ironically, any time that would capture emotion, feeling, or beauty.?
We all know that business schools will be studying Kodak?s decline for decades to come The company once was highly profitable, flush with cash, and one of the worshiped Dow 30. It?s not as if they didn?t try to leverage their brand into other related fields like imaging, photocopies and chemicals.? But the world?s original social media company did a pretty darn good job for a long time. Maybe technology just overcame their product.?
I would suspect the KODAK trademark will still be an invaluable asset in photography-related areas.? You would think that 125 years of goodwill would be worth a fortune, if not to Kodak, then to someone. But Kodak?s poor cousin Polaroid already fell victim to digital photography a long time ago.? The POLAROID trademark remains around on different things, but even with all the great goodwill and emotion tied into the word ?Polaroid,? no one has been able to find a way to revive it on another next-big-product. It would be tempting to say that a great trademark doesn?t count for much if the company can?t stay in business.? But it is almost impossible to underestimate the value that those trademarks had to the success of their companies for so many decades.? At one time, Polaroid was simply synonymous for an instant photograph, like ?give me a Polaroid of your car bumper,? or ?she sent him a Polaroid of what???
What is the best lesson about the KODAK trademark? George Eastman, Kodak?s founder, invented the word because he liked the strong sound of the letter ?K? at the beginning and end. The more distinct a trademark, the stronger it will be, and the more immune from attack. A distinctive, unique, coined word is also going to be less likely to get you accidentally involved in disputes with other companies who use a similar name or similar words.?
You never want your trademark used generically, which is where the product and the name are synonymous, because then the mark becomes used as a noun. A lot of trademarks suffered that fate. Words like ?escalator?, ?aspirin? and ?videotape? started off as trademarks. You become a victim of your own success.? Xerox was going to suffer that fate at one point, but in the 1960?s and 70s they started to publish ads to remind people that XEROX was a registered trademark to identify a particular brand of copier.?
While Facebook is being hailed as a great global social media company and seems poised to absorb money faster than a BOUNTY paper towel, the world?s first great social media company is on life support and living in a bubble.? But that is not for lack of a great trademark.? Looking at KODAK as a trademark, it is hard to say that this great, strong trademark was not responsible for the product?s legendary success. Attention-getting yellow and red packaging was used consistently over decades.? These built a great, strong brand.? Share your pictures, share your life.? It didn?t start with Facebook.
The word ?Kodak? has meant ?memories? to generations. Back in the late 1980s and early 90s, I owned two retail drug stores. Kodak was big business for us. There was a picture-taking occasion virtually every month of the year, except maybe August, but August had summer vacations. Kodak marks had an iron grip on the photo business. When competition heated up in the photo developing market, Kodak advertised to consumers that they should be sure their priceless pictures were developed on nothing less than KODAK paper, convincing KODAK disciples to look for its name to insure that the prints of their photos would keep it all in the KODAK family. The emotional attachment to the KODAK brand linked Kodak to its customers.
Granted, Kodak never was a one-trademark company. They created and used hundreds of names on a variety of products, from ACCUMIX to ZORCAINE, but the company has revolved around the KODAK brand. A unique term is the trademark lawyer?s dream. It is easier to register, easier to protect, and easier to defend.? KODAK is not like FACEBOOK, that?s for sure; it doesn?t tell you anything about the product or service.? As a strong legal trademark, it?s about as good as it gets. KODAK has magic as a trademark. Even the strongest swimmers can?t swim against the tide forever. Maybe Facebook should use some of its upcoming IPO fortune to buy Kodak. I can just picture it.

BUTTERNUT SQUASH SOUP | Scholarspride.com
How to Cook: BUTTERNUT SQUASH SOUP WITH SAGE AND PARMESAN DAMPER
Ingredients:
90g (3 1/4 oz) butter
3 shallots, finely chopped
1 butternut squash, approx. 1kg (2 1/4 lb),
peeled, deseeded, and diced
750ml (1 1/4 pints) chicken stock
250ml (9fl oz) cider
1/2 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
FOR THE DAMPER
225g (8oz) self-raising flour
sea salt and freshly ground
black pepper
85g (3oz) butter, chilled and diced, plus
extra for greasing
25g (scant 1oz) Parmesan cheese,
grated
1 tbsp chopped sage
TO GARNISH
4 large sage leaves
4 tbsp soured cream
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 200 C (400 F/Gas 6). For the damper, sift the flour into a large bowl and season to taste, remembering the Parmesan is already salty. Rub in the butter until it forms a mixture resembling fine breadcrumbs. Then add the Parmesan and sage and bring together with 2-3 tbsp cold water to form a soft dough. Tip onto a board, knead briefly then shape into a round, flattening to form a circle about 14cm (5 1/2 in) in diameter. Transfer to a lightly greased baking sheet, cut a deep cross in the top of the damper, and bake for 30 minutes or until golden and the base sounds hollow when tapped. Cool slightly on a wire rack.
Meanwhile, make the soup. Melt 75g (2 1/2 oz) of the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the shallots and saut for 3 minutes. Add the squash and saut for a further 2 minutes and then add the stock, cider, nutmeg, and some seasoning. Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat slightly and simmer for 15 minutes or until the squash is tender. Blend using a hand-held blender or by transferring to a food processor until smooth. Season to taste.
Melt the remaining butter in a small frying pan over medium heat. Add the sage leaves for the garnish and cook for about 30 seconds or until crisp, turning halfway. Set aside on kitchen paper.
To serve, divide the soup between 4 warm bowls, top each with 1 tbsp of soured cream and garnish with a sage leaf. Break the damper into 4 and serve with the soup.

Personal Injury Lawyer for Wrongful Death Cases - The Legal ...
In behalf of my family and relatives, I would like to thank the Houston personal injury lawyers of the Baumgartner Law Firm for winning the litigation we had filed for the death of my father.? The truth is I don?t have any idea that there are personal injury lawyers who specializes on the cases like ours.?? After the incident, I surfed the internet for a lawyer who specialized in wrongful deaths. My dad died at the factory he worked in, and it was a serious case of neglect.
?
What?s great is that in the midst of it all this law firm made us feel that they are there every step of the way. ?The first time I called the number which I got from their website, I was immediately redirected to the personal injury attorney who asked for a copy of the police report.? The personal injury lawyer took care of everything from questioning to collating of all the evidences for our case.? They made sure they gave us updates from time to time.? They did not even collect any payment for their professional services until we won the case and receive the appropriate settlement.? The untimely death of my dad is very devastating for all of us, but by winning the litigation case and proving the existence of foul play on the part of my dad?s employer somehow gives us peace.? Thus, I recommend to anyone whose loved ones have become victims of wrongful deaths to get in touch of this law firm.

Study posits a theory of moral behavior

Researchers say theory may help explain ethical lapses that led to recession
WASHINGTON, DC, February 21, 2012 Why do some people behave morally while others do not? Sociologists at the University of California, Riverside and California State University, Northridge have developed a theory of the moral self that may help explain the ethical lapses in the banking, investment, and mortgage-lending industries that nearly ruined the U.S. economy.
For decades, sociologists have posited that individual behavior results from cultural expectations about how to act in specific situations. In a study, "A Theory of the Self for the Sociology of Morality," published in the February issue of the American Sociological Review, Jan E. Stets of UC Riverside and Michael J. Carter of CSU Northridge found that how individuals see themselves in moral terms is also an important motivator of behavior.
Those bankers, stockbrokers, and mortgage lenders whose actions helped cause the recession were able to act as they did, seemingly without shame or guilt, perhaps because their moral identity standard was set at a low level, and the behavior that followed from their personal standard went unchallenged by their colleagues, Stets explained.
"To the extent that others verify or confirm the meanings set by a person's identity standard and expressed in a person's behavior, the more the person will continue to engage in these behaviors," Stets said of the theory of moral identity she and Carter advance. "One's identity standard guides his or her behavior. Then the person sees the reactions of others to his or her behavior. If others have a low moral identity and do not challenge the illicit behavior that follows from a person's identity standard, then the person will continue to do what he or she is doing. This is how immoral practices can emerge."
The sociologists surveyed a diverse group of more than 350 university students in a two-phase study that measured students' moral identity, assessment of specific situations as having a moral component, and moral emotions, such as guilt and shame. The students first were asked how they responded in specific situations where they had a choice to do the right or wrong thing; for example, copy another student's answers, drive home drunk, take an item, give to charity, allow another student to copy their answers, let a friend drive home drunk, return a lost item, or return money to a cashier.
Three months later, survey respondents were asked how to rate each scenario in moral terms, and how they thought individuals ought to feel following doing the right or wrong thing in each situation. The students placed themselves along a continuum between two contradictory characteristics honest/dishonest, caring/uncaring, unkind/kind, unfair/fair, helpful/not helpful, stingy/generous, compassionate/hardhearted, untruthful/truthful, not hardworking/hardworking, friendly/unfriendly, selfish/selfless, and principled/unprincipled. The more that individuals endorsed themselves as honest, caring, kind, fair, helpful, generous, compassionate, truthful, hardworking, friendly, selfless, and principled, the higher their moral identity.
Wherever individuals are located on this continuum, they act with the goal of verifying the meanings of who they are that is set by their moral identity standard, Stets and Carter said. "We found that individuals with a high moral identity score were more likely to behave morally, while those with a low moral identity score were less likely to behave morally. Respondents who received feedback from others that did not verify their moral identity standard were more likely to report guilt and shame than those whose identities were verified," they said.
The goal is to live up to one's self-view however that appears across the moral continuum from being very uncaring and unjust to very caring and very just, the researchers said. "When the meanings of one's behavior based on feedback from others are inconsistent with the meanings in one's identity standard, the person will feel bad," they said.
More research is needed to identify the source of moral identity meanings, Stets and Carter said. "Exposure to particular social contexts and individuals may encourage a higher moral identity," they said. "For example, when parents are involved in their children's lives, their children are more likely to recognize moral values. Schools can also sensitize individuals to moral meanings by providing an atmosphere that fosters justice, virtue, and volunteering. Religious traditions that promote reflection on moral issues and foster charitable work also help individuals recognize moral meanings."
Studying the moral self is opportune given the practices of bankers, stockbrokers, and mortgage lenders whose behavior, in some cases, helped facilitate the recent recession in the United States, Stets and Carter said.
"The cost of their irresponsible practices has touched the lives of many innocent victims, as witnessed in the loss of individuals' retirement savings, homes, and jobs. The fact that a few greedy actors have the potential to damage the lives of many (as evidenced in the Bernie Madoff case) brings issues of right and wrong, good and bad, and just and unjust to public awareness," they said. "To understand the illicit behavior of some, we need to study the moral dimension of the self and what makes some individuals more dishonest than others."
